Yard Update

Rather than doing a peek at my iPod (which I think I haven't done in weeks), I thought I'd give you a yard update. Complete with pictures. We still have a ways to go, but now I kind of wish I'd taken before/after pictures. I didn't, because it looked so horrible I didn't figure I'd ever show them to anyone. But it's hard to really appreciate all of our hard work, without knowing how bad it was before.

Just imagine, the grass had moved into the plant beds, and since there was other stuff in the plant beds, we couldn't mow it. You get the idea. BAD!

But here's after a month of pulling weeds, putting down new landscape cloth and 208 bags of mulch. That sounds totally ridiculous!! LOL The close-up purple plant is lavendar, and I have it scattered all around the house. There's also daylillies, knock-out roses and verbena. My oleander hasn't started blooming yet, and in the fall, there will be a whole different set of things blooming.

There's also a picture of our baby ducks. We started with ten and ended up with two. :( And we have a bazillion geese, they seem to have all made it. And my bunny rabbit, Hoover. There's actually two of them. They don't like weeds but love Lirope and Thyme. LOL

LOL...Okay, that's all for show-n-tell today. Thanks for listening.

Happy Thursday!!
Peace and love,
Alannah

Your yard looks beautiful. I live in an apartment, so no yard work for me.

Thanks!! There are many times I drive by these nice big apartment complexes that have really pretty gardens surrounding the property, and think, "I could live there. It's beautiful, but absolutely no work for the residents!" LOL

I'm so jealous. A gorgeous yard AND water! *whine* All your hard word shows! The place is beautiful. (Come do mine now?)

Your gardens look fabulous! I seem to recall you are using the "recycled rubber" mulch, right? It looks genuine to me! And your wildlife is very cute.

I feel very fortunate, Silver. It's not always easy, living 1/4 mile away from the inlaws. But I love this property so much, that it makes it worthwhile.

Yep, Lu, that would be recycled tires you're looking at. LOL I'm holding my breath to see what happens to the plants. I've put out a lot of fertilizer, but since they won't be getting any nutrients from the break-down of real mulch, we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Wow! Beautiful, Alannah :)

When you've finished up at Silver's, can you pop over this way? Thanks.

LOL...Ya'll are too funny. I still have a lot of work to do to finish mine up, so it'll be a while before I can start making the rounds.
