Eek...Running behind this morning but I wanted to share with you guys what I was reading. Especially since several of you were instrumental in my getting it (although you didn't know).
I'll explain.
Several of you have encouraged me to write a NASCAR story, and...well, I'm thinking about it. I have an idea and it involves one of the characters having amnesia. Since I don't know a thing about the subject, I went to the library and found several books about it. Two of the books are written from the scientific standpoint. This book is written by a woman who had amnesia.
It's an interesting book, but it has also been helpful in a way I never would have expected. Since having his surgery, and then experiencing a grand mal seizure in July of last year, my husbands memory is iffy at times.
Things he's known all of his life, he doesn't remember now. And thing that happened just prior to the seizure last year, he doesn't remember. Sometimes I get frustrated and impatient (especially when we repeat the same conversation three days in a row) but this book has been great in helping me understand things from his point-of-view. I also get to see how another spouse handled some of these same situtations and guess what? I'm only human so...it doesn't make it okay that I get irritated, but it does seem to be a natural response. LOL
I doubt any of you will rush right out and pick up this book. But I wanted to share it with you guys anyway.
Have a fantastic weekend!!!
Peace and Love,
Alannah

Interesting how that works sometimes.
I read a book some time ago called When God Winks by SQuire Rushnell. The subtitle is "How the power of coincidence guides your life." The dust cover blurb reads, "It is not by accident that you just picked up When God Winks. Whether you call it synchronicity or coincidence, what brought you to this book today is worth remembering. In fact, you may have suspected all along that there is more to coincidence than meets the eye. These seemingly random events are actually signposts that can help you successfully navigate your career, relationship, and interests."
Rushnell's theory is that God sets up coincidences in our life to bring us where we should be. Sometimes, the "nudges" go back a long ways, but you can follow the trail. I think this is one of those times.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. And I still want to read that NASCAR book!
Glad the push for the NASCAR book allowed you to find a book that will help you with your husband's recovery.
Thanks, you guys, for the encouagement!!
Silver, I believe you're right. I wish I could remember the exact definition that Wayne Dyer used one time but it was something like, "The perfect coinciding of angles." That nothing is accidental but all perfectly orchestrated.
I've had an idea going through my mind for over a year now. It was about a husband or wife that has an accident and is taken to the emergency room, where their ex-spouse (or soon-to-be ex-spouse) works. And they basically start the relationship all over again, because one of them doesn't remember.
I think I can make it work really well in the NASCAR book so I'm kicking it around now and trying to figure out how to make it all work. I'll keep ya posted.
Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. It's been a long week - and everything has been so drawn out for her husband and kids. But one son left today, an hour after the funeral (he's on call at the hospital this week and couldn't change that). The other son and her husband leave tomorrow and I think at that point things will settle down and get back to normal. Or as close to normal as things ever are!
Have a fantastic weekend!!!
