Naughty New Years Blog Hop

Welcome to 2013 and my stop on the Naughty New Years Blog Hop Tour! A huge thank you to Skye Warren for her hard work putting this event together. Don’t forget to leave a comment here for a chance to win one of my Heat Wave books, then hop on to the next blog. The hop starts on January 2nd and runs through January 7th! Give yourself some time because we’ve got a lot of hosts… which means a LOT of prizes.

New Year's Day is my favorite day of the year. I wish I could bottle the feelings of awe, excitement, and hope that I hold for the year ahead, then pop it open and take a sip as the year grinds on and I need a reminder of the optimism I had on January 1st.

The way kids wait with anticipation for Christmas morning, is the way I feel waiting for New Year’s Day. However, there is one problem that accompanies my anticipation. I tend to become a little psychotic the week between Christmas and New Year, clearing out the old, getting us “ready” for the new.

All the Christmas decorations need to be down, packed up, and stored away. The house has to be clean and organized: closets and drawers sorted and cleared of clutter; baseboards cleaned, screens washed, windows clean, kitchen cabinets purged...

Are you getting the picture? :D

One year, I moved everything out of my laundry room, went to Target and purchased storage units, and completely reorganized the laundry room. It needed to be cleaned, and I’m glad I did it, but that’s just one example of how crazy I can get while trying to get my physical and emotional house in order so I’m “ready” for the New Year.

This year, my husband and I have been sick so my normal routine was derailed. I do have the Christmas decorations put away, but I haven’t organized anything and I’ve barely been able to keep the house average-clean.

However, even though I haven’t been able to stick to my usual routine, I’ve held on to my usual optimism and excitement and hope for an amazing new year.

So what about you? Do you have an annual ritual to make sure the upcoming year is all you hope for? Do you have any New Year resolutions or plans to make 2013 the best year ever?

Leave a comment for a chance to win one of my Heat Wave books, and then hop on to the next blog and leave a comment there. All comments are entered into the Grand Prize Drawing - a $100 gift card to EdenFantasys and a digital gift basket of 10 erotica books. All comments across the blog tour are entered, so stop everywhere and increase your chances!!

Happy New Year! Make 2013 YOUR year!!

Peace and love,
Alannah

Hi LM - Thank you so much. I'm glad you're enjoying the Heat Wave! :-)

Having a starting place and sticking with it until it's finished is a great rule! I need to do the same thing. I'm so easily distracted, I hop from one thing to another to anothe. And then nothing gets done. :-D

Happy new year! Enjoy the blog hop!!

Becki - I usually don't do spring cleaning because I've cleaned everything so well around New Years. But this year... I'm gonna need to do spring cleaning. :-/

I do housecleaning before the new year as well, but my family's favorite new year's ritual is making greens and black eyed peas for dinner on New Year's Day. It's supposedly to ensure health and wealth in the new year.

Happy new year!

Unknown said...

Hi Jennifer!

I didn't follow through on my goal either, which really irritates me. I wonder how fit and thin I would be right now if I'd stuck with it for the entire year. Good luck to you with that goal!!

Unknown said...

Aww, Pepper... thank you!!! It totally made my night to read that!! Muah!

I don't know if anyone will see these follow-up comments or not, but I'm going to email each of you as soon as I'm finished. I totally forgot to let you know that "Savin' Me" is free at all major outlets! *doh*

So even if you don't win, I want to make sure everyone knows they can pick up Savin Me for free!

Unknown said...

Hi Mer! Are you in the south, because my husband's family has the same New Year Day ritual. I grew up in Southern Ohio and had never heard of that until I moved to NC.

Unknown said...

Hi S Oconnor - Best of luck to you with your job search!!!

Unknown said...

Hey Kathy!!

I'm sorry you had problems. It's my understand that the linky thing wasn't working the first few days and that lots of people were having problems getting around. I'm glad it got "fixed!"

I just found out yesterday about you winning the "Name the character" bid. Congrats!!!! Look for a message from me in the next couple of days about it! :-)

Unknown said...

Woo-hooo!! K. April!! That sounds like a lofty, fun goal!! Good luck!! :-D

Unknown said...

Hi bw!! You're very welcome! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

Hi Jessie!! I'd think every husband would celebrate when his wife said, "I got a new book today!" :D Mine loves it when I say, "I need to do some research." LOL
