New Year's Day is my favorite day of the year. I love the idea of starting over with a fresh, clean slate. All I see ahead of me are possibilities. And I usually have a theme for myself each year. Last year, it was: 2010...the year for discipline.
While I haven't been able to come up with anything that rhymes with "eleven" except "heaven" I do have a theme: Trust my gut, follow my instincts, and rely on myself more.
I even have a theme song to go with it! "The Voice Within" by Christina Aguilera.
Listening to that small inner voice can sometimes but scary, but I've found that it ALWAYS knows what's right. Here's an awful example (lol):
I stopped at the grocery store tonight to get some hamburger to make meatloaf. They had the pork chops stuffed with Cajun rice. They looked good, but that's not normally something I would get, so I didn't pay them a whole lot of attention. Well, that inner voice kept saying, "Get the pork chops." Going with my New Year's resolution, I got 3 of the pork chops.
I came home, mixed up the meatloaf, and was cleaning up the kitchen when I noticed a little black, nasty bug on top of the bread crumbs container. I popped the lid off and looked inside and there were hundreds of nasty, disgusting bugs crawling around!! I hadn't even noticed them when I poured it into my meatloaf. Thank God I noticed that one on the lid, and thank goodness I had pork chops to fall back onto for dinner!!
Listening to my inner voice definitely helped me today!! Now, if I can just remember to keep listening to it.
I hope it's a fabulous day for you!!
Peace and love,
Alannah

EWwwww *shivers*. Poor you, having to waste all that meatloaf. I would have cooked it anyway, and fed it to the ladies, hehe. I also would have spent some time to identify the insects.
LOL I don't have ladies, so that was out. And I really don't care what the insects were. I did search the entire cabinet, though, to make sure there weren't any others. I didn't see any, so fingers are crossed.
I'm slowly getting caught up on my blog hopping. Sorry I can't help with the rhyming. Leaven and seven are my contributions to go with heaven.
Perhaps a departure in this first year of the second decade of the new millennium? Go with *just* a theme song and use the title for your theme. I think you've found a dandy one. That inner voice can keep us from all sorts of mistakes and can lead us down unexplored paths that open our eyes to all sorts of wonder!
Happy New Year!
Ewwwwww!!! Sorry you lost the meatloaf, but glad you had a backup meal.
Big hugs for Silver and Liza!!!
Silver...I got nothing to say but, Amen!! :) I hope you had a great holiday!
Yep, Liza, I think that's what I said too! And that "ewwwwww" was quickly followed by a string of nasty curse words. LOL
